This new piano scholarship was created by Alexander Archbold to celebrate the life and musical contributions of Bette-Joan Rac. Madame Rac was a long-time piano teacher in Edmonton, Alberta, who is remembered for her style, her sparkle, and her great love of sharing the joy of music.
The Bette-Joan Rac Piano Scholarship is “needs-based” with special consideration given to 1st and 2nd generation Canadians (recent immigrants). There will be one $1,000 Scholarship awarded annually towards piano instruction.
The Alberta Registered Music Teachers’ Association will administer this scholarship in her honour with funds held by the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers Trust Fund.
