ARMTA Bursary
A Needs-Based Bursary from the ARMTA Recognition Fund
The ARMTA Bursary is offered to assist students, at any level, who wish to further or continue their music studies and struggle with the costs involved in this pursuit. The basic requirements are:
• commitment to music study
• financial need
Description:
• Multiple awards are available in any given year and eligible applications may be awarded up to $1,000.
• Applications are reviewed and bursaries are awarded on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.
• Bursaries may be applied for every 6 months, subject to teacher recommendation of progress.
• Applicants for “Full Time Study” are encouraged to apply. This might include, but is not restricted to, students doing post-secondary music studies.
Eligibility:
• Be a permanent resident or citizens of Canada.
• Be a resident of Alberta for the past six months.
• Be studying with a teacher in Alberta who is a current member of ARMTA.
• Be pursuing music studies in any music genres – practical, theory, advanced studies, etc,
• Be experiencing financial need which limits their options in their music studies.
• Have some talent but especially show determination and interest in pursuing their music studies.
How the Bursary is awarded:
• A committee designated by the ARMTA Provincial Board will review applications each month. The decision of the committee is final.
• All cheques from the ARMTA Recognition Fund are made out in the name of the student/recipient. They cannot be made out to an ARMTA member, to the parents, to an institution of learning, or to the instructor of the student.
Applying for the ARMTA Bursary:
• Apply using the form below. After submitting your information you will be directed to a page to upload a copy of a letter of recommendation from your music instructor.
• For students under 18: Please upload a copy of a letter from a parent or guardian, describing the financial situation and reason for applying for this bursary.
Both components (online form + letter of recommendation) are necessary to adjudicate your application. Incomplete applications will be rejected. Since you cannot save and return to this application, please have your letter of recommendation ready before you begin.
