An annual music writing composition for all ages to create an original work for solo instrument or any combination of instruments or a voice composition with or without accompaniment. Provincial first place winners in each age division are submitted to the CFMTA National Student Composer Competition. Awards for winners of each category range from $30-$100.
A biennial piano competition for advanced students of ARMTA members. First place winner will represent Alberta at the CFMTA National Piano Competition and will be given the opportunity to undertake the Young Artist Tour at various venues in Alberta. Prizes range from $250-$1750.
A competition for voice students of ARMTA members.
The purpose of this award is to encourage students to take their music out into the community. Any student studying music with a member of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers’ Association may apply for this award. Bronze, Silver & Gold level certificated available.
The ARMTA Bursary is offered to assist students, at any level, who wish to further or continue their music studies and struggle with the costs involved in this pursuit. The basic requirements are commitment to music study & financial need.
Multiple awards are available in any given year in amounts from $200 to $500 per year/per recipient. Applications are reviewed and bursaries are awarded on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. Each award is tenable for a maximum of two years, and subject to satisfactory progress. Applicants for “Full Time Study” are encouraged to apply. This might include, but is not restricted to, students doing post-secondary music studies.
The ARMTA Music Pedagogy Scholarship is offered to assist students, at an advanced level,
who wish to further their musical studies through the pursuit of pedagogy. The basic requirements are:
• commitment to music study and teaching
• academic scholarship
Description of the Pedagogy Scholarship:
• One award is available each June 30th in the amount of $1000 per recipient.
• Applications are reviewed and scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis.
• Applicants enrolled in any music pedagogy study are encouraged to apply.
